What Is Differential Focusing

Believe sometimes you wonder what are the ways or technics to make a photograph more interesting and attractive.

Differential Focusing is one of the way to make your photographs more eye-catching, where the subject of interest is in focus while others are blur. In this way, viewer can understand and see clearly what you are trying to empathize in the photograph.

How To Achieve?

It is very easy to achieve this technique using a SLR camera, with settings as follow:

1) Widest Aperture

2) Long Focal Length

3) Distance between lens and main subject as close as possible.

Why Wide Aperture?

When using a wide aperture, meaning the aperture size is big, you are able to achieve a shallow depth of field. On the other hand, a small aperture will allow deep depth of field.

You will be able to achieve differential focusing with a shallow depth of field and the effect can be enhanced by drawing the main subject nearer to your lens.

There are many other Amateur Photography Tips where you can use to improve your photographs. You can even combine the different techniques to even enhance your photographs and photography skills.
